Kelsey Cao
Mechanical Engineering Intern
Driven by a curiosity for understanding the ‘how’ and ‘why,’ Kelsey is a mechanical engineer co-op passionate about creating thoughtful, user-centered designs. Currently at Motiv, she contributes to a wide range of projects, engaging in prototyping, testing, and CAD design.
With hands-on experience from her previous co-ops, Kelsey has built a strong foundation in consumer product design and is excited to keep finding new ways to shape our everyday experiences.
Now in her senior year studying Mechanical Engineering & Design at Northeastern University, she is collaborating with her capstone team on a green body tape casting machine for the DAPS lab. She’s also enjoyed design-focused classes that have strengthened her skills in 2D visualization and 3D fabrication, and she’s eager to dive into paper mechanics and packaging design in her final semester.
Outside of work, she finds inspiration in her hobbies. She loves capturing scenes through photography, getting lost in a great book, or expressing herself through dance—reminding her to bring energy, perspective, and a sense of joy into everything she designs.
